Visit Pilgrim’s Rest
Visiting this pristine little town is one for the bucket list.
Pilgrim’s Rest, located half an hour away from Mount Sheba Cottages, is a small historic town that is also known as the second of the Transvaal gold fields.
From as early as the 1800s, the town was packed with hopeful prospects searching for gold. Nowadays, it is a tourist location that transports visitors back in time to the days of the gold rush. Throughout this period, the town has been well-kept and changed ever so slightly and is now a protected historical site.
Visiting this pristine little town is one for the bucket list. It has many quaint and inviting restaurants, such as The Vine Restaurant & Johnny’s Pub, that offer delicious meals and a wonderful view of upper Pilgrim’s Rest.

Take a trip to the Kruger National Park
Day trips are advisable entering the Phabeni Gate and traveling the Pretoriuskop, lower Sabie, Skukuza area, The Phabeni Gate is 86.9 km away form Mount Sheba and the drive takes about 1 hour 45 minutes.
Alternatively, use the Orpen Gate and travel to Satara via Talamati then do the Timbavati loop and back to Orpen, Orpen Gate is 150,2 KM and takes about 2 hours 15 minutes over the Abel Erasmus Pass.
